About

The Story so far……

Born into a family of chemists, I’ve spent over 35 years on my skincare journey across the globe. My journey began at the tender age of 16, after studying Beauty Therapy in Birmingham. Eager for adventure, I left for the bright lights of New York City where I studied Chinese medicine and holistic skincare, and began my career at The Aveda Institute Soho, which was at the forefront of the holistic well – being scene in New York City. It was here that I learned the importance of plant and flower essences in skincare and well – being, beginning my career and an Aesthetician and Massage Therapist. The experience was transformative and a foundation of future endeavours.

My career then took an exciting turn when I joined the uber cool Bliss Spa, under the brilliant mentorship of Marcia Kilgore – the visionary founder of Bliss, Fit Flop, Soap & Glory and now Beauty Pie. At Bliss, I transformed into one of the most sought out facialists and never knowing what celebrity was sitting in the waiting room!

After 13 dynamic years stateside, I returned to London, where I played a pivotal role in establishing Bliss London, building a loyal clientele. But it was time to go alone and launch Kirsty McLeod London. This venture quickly gained momentum amongst Chelsea’s fashionista set and soon I had an eight week waiting list for a facial. My own capsule collection of skincare products launched in Selfridges, along with a weekly column in T2 of The Times newspaper, then my daughter came along ……

With my new addition of a baby, I then embarked on many moves around the globe, followed my Husband’s career.  Our moves took us to Bristol, Sydney, Cambridge, Jersey, Glasgow and Johannesburg, all while continually creating natural skincare and performing facials. It was during lockdown, with extra time on my hands, I reignited my passion for crafting. Soon, hand poured soy wax candles took over the house and my escapist collection of candles was born, inspired by the places I’ve travelled and lived.

Accumulating a treasure trove of Liberty fabric in South Africa, I then ventured into making gorgeous Liberty fabric and velvet scarves, bags and accessories – each piece unique.

Now back in Malvern, I’m happily performing facials again and have launched Silphium Skincare, a line inspired by my own experiences with menopausal skin. With my cosmetic chemist brother Jamie helping with formulations, this exciting chapter embodies my lifelong commitment to natural, effective and sustainable skincare that shouldn’t cost a fortune - artisanal, handmade, small batch, honest and gorgeous.  I hope you enjoy!
